‘Tis the season to deck the halls… but quite frankly, I’ve grown a bit bored of traditional “hall decking”. So this year, I decided to spice things up. I steered clear of the time-honored holiday hues… trading in the red and green for some boxwoods & blue.
I scoured the house, looking for items to repurpose. I grabbed boxwoods from my guest bathroom, a leftover window panel from my linen closet… and some ribbon, push pins and candles from my craft closet. The result? Decor that didn’t cost me a dime.
I wrapped plain white candles with decorative ribbon, turned the extra window panel into a table runner, and used throw pillows to dress up my dining chairs.
I followed the same color scheme throughout the house… using an ice blue vase filled with branches sprayed white… wrapped in an oversized sheer ribbon that came on a bouquet of flowers I got last year. The moral of this Christmas story… sometimes it pays to hold onto items that may come in handy if you grow bored of tradition.
Happy Holidays… and happy hall decking!
