Lemon + Lace

So what’s a girl to wear to cover a star-studded red carpet event? It was Healthcorps’ 8th annual Savory Garden Gala at the Waldorf Astoria New York. The event raised money for Healthcorps to continue its fight against child obesity, and expand its groundbreaking in-school health education programming. It was hosted by HealthCorps co-founders Dr. Mehmet Oz and Lisa Oz, and honored Academy Award-winning actress Goldie Hawn and feminist writer and activist Gloria Steinem. I covered the event for health & wellness network, Veria Living. It featured performances by C+C Music Factory, Judy Torres and Broadway’s Stepp Stewart, as well as a tasting menu from celebrity chefs Candice Kumai, George Duran and others.

It was the perfect opportunity to wear a dress I’d been eyeing for some time… a tulle skirt lace dress by Nha Khanh. I paired it with some Victoria’s Secret classic pumps in Electric Lemon for just the right pop of “party”. I grabbed my Tiffany & Co Morgan clutch in leopard haircalf and nappa leather for an added touch of couture. But what’s a black tie event without the right hair & makeup? It was just the right excuse to try out a Spring 2014 hair trend… the messy bohemian braid… done by the fabulous stylists at Timothy Pamment Salon in Madison, CT. Makeup artist DD Nickel gave me the ultimate cat eye, with makeup inspired by Olivia Wilde at this year’s Academy Awards. I topped the look off with a dose of “vamp” by using my nail color obsession of the moment… Fuse gelnamel in v-amp.
